How to Turn Off Screen Display using Shortcut on Windows

Many of the people who use Windows OS turn their screen off by simply switching of the monitor for a desktop. But most of them are not aware of  how to turn of the screen by simply clicking on one icon. This is very simple as clicking lock screen power button of a Android or IOS or Windows Device. First of all, you will need to a tiny and multi-purpose utility called as Nircmd. This tiny utility will be around 100kb in Size which can to amazing tasks. For a complete list of  tasks this utility is capable of, take a look at its download page at nirsoft. All you need to do is to extract the contents of the downloaded file and save it in a folder, most preferably in the OS drive.

Once you have with done that, simply follow the instructions below.
Step 1: Create a Shortcut
Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New > Shortcut.

Step 2: Assign Shortcut for nircmd.exe file

Now click on browse and navigate to the location where you had saved the nircmd.exe file and select it.

Step 3: Edit the arguement

Add quotes to the beginning and the end of the path and then add the following argument :
cmdwait 1000 monitor off
Here’s how the final argument should look.
“C:\path-to\nircmd.exe” cmdwait 1000 monitor off

Step 4: Enter Name for Shortcut

Click on next and enter a name for the shortcut. Finally click on finish to create the shortcut.

That’s it, You are done. Just click on the Icon and you can see the Screen Turning off.
